WHITSTABLE CHORAL SOCIETY

THE JOY OF SINGING

We perform a wide range of choral works around our district, with world-class soloists and members of the Festival Chamber Orchestra.

As a community choral society, we welcome singers of all levels of experience. Our Musical Director, Spencer Payne, helps the choir to get the most out of the music with great skill, knowledge and enthusiasm. Rehearsals are fun as well as challenging, leading to concerts to inspire any audience. Tickets for our forthcoming events are available through the Events & Tickets page on this website.

Come Join us whether you are an established singer or a new one who has always wanted to join a choir but never quite dared to. You will get all the help to learn the music and confidence to become a proud singer. We are a non-audition choir. To get a taster, come any Tuesday to a rehearsal or send us a message.

90 Years

Whitstable Choral Society

It all started in 1932 when Alfred James Harrison, conductor, organist and choirmaster at St Alphege Church, founded what was to become the Whitstable Choral Society. He would be proud and delighted to see the Society today and its continued association with St Alphege. 2022 was a year of celebration for WCS with 90 years of making music and singing great works for the choir’s and local community’s enjoyment – 90 fun years of making new friends and spending times with old ones.

The Highlight of our celebratory year was our Autumn concert where we sang the Messiah with the Festival Chamber Orchestra. This was a wonderful occasion to be in the audience, but an even better experience to be part of the choir!
